That’s not the right plate for that food. The center area is too crowded. This plating would look better on a large square plate with a small rim.

There’s still refinements that should be made to the actual food, but that plate is your first problem. You could reduce the amount of food served, but I still don’t think that would help in this particular case. And I don’t think it would be enough for a proper serving.

  2. I don’t think the plate is the issue, at all. The arrangement though is strange, especially the carrots. But the bright side is that the meat and the potatoes look to be cooked very well. I would prefer a fresh, green element that’s not just a little cut herb on top. If the plate was somewhat bigger (or the meat smaller), you could bring the potatoes closer to center, splay the NY strip in a semi circle with the potatoes in the middle, sauce on top, arrange carrots on the opposite side of that or even under the potatoes (this is really hard to describe!)

Might need more weight on the pace while it’s cooling and setting up. Give it more sear too so it starts together and doesn’t separate on the plate. I’d also go one larger page vs two smaller so it’s simpler to execute and can highlight the layers. carrots look random but I like the orange contrast.
