Ugh, cheddar makes me cringe after the incident. I go with some American or Havarti

On a basic burger? American. It melts the absolute best. If I’m venturing away, I really like bleu cheese or pepperjack. Something that adds to the burger.
I love cheddar cheese on many things, but it’s not near the top for me when it comes to burgers. If I was going with something cheddar-like, I like the double Gloucester from Trader Joe’s that has onions in it.

I cant get enough of processed cheese but next in line is blue, preferably with bacon and mushrooms

Cheddar, especially if it’s a very well melted cheddar. I used to get smashburger double cheddar in college, and I don’t know what type they were using or doing to it, but it melted like American with the flavor of cheddar

I like practically any cheese on a burger, but for the Number 1 spot, you can’t beat good old Land O Lakes Yellow American. Honorable mention for White American.
