I think that’s really sweet. Congratulations to her for trying and working through things! And great on you for being willing to work through it with her. And now you have cheese!

Idk OP as a child of a narcissistic mother, I’d check the dates on all that cheese.

it’s really kind of oop to support her. a lot of people just go no-contact with a parent like that. i hope they have continued success with the treatment.

She’s trying, thats cool. Best of luck to the poster on that. All children with narcissist parents wish for this

I would hope there is a dollop of a sense of humor in there with the cheese as well, not just a sweet gesture. Humor helps things along, if you are up for it.

  6. As a person with a similar mother, who occasionally also makes an effort to express the amount of affection or love that she perceives as normal (she doesn’t actually seem to experience emotions, and I am far from the only person who has made this observation), I think this is very sweet too.

I have gotten some unusual gifts as well. All of which I very much appreciate, the mere fact that she is trying means something to me.

My mother would do that and expect something shortly after, “But I got you all that cheese!” (friendly narcissist… does things for others to hold it over their heads)

  8. That’s dope! You should try that brand’s american cheese slices. It’s not fake or plastic like. It’s kinda new, a bit pricey, but I can’t go back to regular american cheese again.

  9. Narcissist or not that is a very sweet thing to do. Side note: I hope that severe illness can be resolved by the way. It has such a terrible prognosis that to me if I was a narcissist I’d do my best to hide it once I realize how screwed I would be in life.
