My favourite so far, what is your favourite?

It entirely depends on what accompaniments I have on hand.

Point Reyes / cowgirl creamery in northern California makes “original blue cheese”. When paired with a Granny Smith apple, it’s pure bliss.

Anyone aware of any US importer that might carry M&S (which I presume is “Marks & Spencer”…?)

  3. I recently picked up a D’Auvergne blue cheese from the local grocery store. I’ve been away from blues for a long awhile but couldn’t walk past without picking some up. It was really creamy and tasty. I’d realized how much I really missed blues and especially Roqueforts.

The best Stilton in my opinion is actually not quite a Stilton – Stichelton is basically a Stilton but cannot be named Stilton, as they use unpasteurised milk (a requirement for it to be called Stilton). But that doesn’t matter because it’s amazing, and possibly better than any Stilton.

Colston Bassett rocks. We get it as an import in the USA, sans the M&S branding. Tesco’s Stilton is great, too. Love this cheese with Bandol red or 20 year old Tawny port.

  6. Seriously? Any cheese lover knows M and S do some good cheeses, even some great ones for a supermarket, so does Waitrose and even any other supermarkets (Lidl, Aldi, Tesco, Sainsburys and Asda etc) but the only way to get the BEST cheeses is to try little local cheese or delicatessen places and farms directly etc, even travel abroad .. Stilton is good (and I live near where the best ones are made), but we can always find that little random unexpected portion of true greatness
