Ignore the coffee grounds from where I reflexively threw this in the trash. WTF is this clear goo inside these slices of sharp cheddar cheese? It’s located in a crack in the cheese through multiple slices and has the consistency of wet vaseline

  1. I can’t remember the specific name of the gel, but this is food safe gel that is used to fill a grading plug out of a block of cheese. They fill the hole from the plug with the food safe/edible gel to prevent mold growth as that part will now be exposed to air and susceptible to mold growth.
