Aldi do this cheese and it’s hands-down gold tier cheese.

You should try St. Angel if you like that one.

Does it compare to a real Brie de Meau?

They make a truffles version that is amazing.

The Fromager d’Affinois Herb is my kryptonite!
When I was staring out in my cheesemonger carrier: had a customer request I try it with them when I was cutting it for them… I’ve been cursed/blessed ever since then.
They also have an ‘Excellence’ variation of the plain Brie (super creamy) which fully deserves its title. And they recently came out with mini bags!

As soon as I saw the rind pattern I knew it was a d’Affinois. Their cheeses are DIVINE!

If you love that try Delice de Bourgogne. Even creamier!
Edit: fixed spelling/name and I’ll blame autocorrect as I copy and pasted the name originally from Google so not sure how I messed it up. Thanks for the correction.

Is it sharp and creamy or just creamy. I don’t like weak cheese

I saw the first picture and immediately knew it was fromager d’affinois.
Glad to know I can still identify my cheeses even years after my cheese monger days.
It is one of my absolute favorites. It’s a great soft ripened cheese for people who are scared to taste Brie. It’s got a very clean taste, super creamy and buttery.

You need to try delice de Bourgogne. It’s like this but more buttery and almost ice cream like texture.

A lot of recs for Delice de Bourgogne, which is fantastic, but also has a bit more of a funk/bitter end, which might be a turnoff for some.
I prefer Delice, but I think maybe a closer rec to the d’Affinois is Grand Margaux, which is also a very smooth double crème. For a more buttery triple crème you might try Saint Angel (which someone already mentioned) and Saint-Andre.

In my cheesemonger days people would come in and ask for fromage. I would gesture to the counter and ask if they specifically wanted French cheese since they were asking in French. After confusion and back and forth it was always this cheese they wanted. I knew it was. I was a terrible sales person.

Brie is not my favorite cheese But if I see this at Aldi when I go tomorrow, I will buy some. I have a feeling it is much more expensive than regular Brie. Who knew there were so many types of Brie?

That is my favorite cheese ever! I buy it when my book club friends come over and they call it the stinky but delicious cheese. I don’t think it’s that stinky, but I agree it’s delicious!
