I’ve started on a journey with my kids (9 and almost 8) to explore new cheeses. My 9 year old is especially having fun with it. These are the new cheeses in my fridge right now. What are some good (milder) cheeses to explore with them? We’ve also tried a gruyere and a local gouda. Thank you!

If you can get it, I recommend Sartori Montamore Cheddar. It’s not too high a price point and has a good chance for lactate crystals. Also rather sweet, a bit like pineapple.

Also, for a more general recommendation, Juusto is a solid, bready cheese either cold or melted.

Trader joe’s unexpected cheddar is really good, if you have a trader joe near you. Also it is easy to approach for kids since it is cheddar and a similar (but a bit different) flavor profile.

  3. There is an English cheese producer called Wensleydale, and all of their cheese are great, but their best is called kit calvert. You can order their cheeses online, and they may send them internationally
