I know the collage is goofy but I’m just trying to make sure I’m not convincing myself that a single slice of this cheese pizza isn’t 300 cals. THIS thin slice, 1/6 of a cheese 12” pizza … 300 cal? I only ask because in MFP someone put a slice of Colony Grill pizza at 300… and I don’t know what they’re on about. (The hot oil pizza is also supposedly 300 cal tho? That one I believe because it’s topped with… oil.)
I looked at all other average 12” cheese pizzas of similar thickness & their calorie counts and came to 192 as the per slice # (higher than “normal” because it’s 1/6 of pizza not 1/8.)
What do y’all say, am I tricking myself or am I reasonable in not trusting MFP on this one? (Also that’s just thin sliced onion on top. Unless the onion adds 100 calories per slice…)

Weigh it on a food scale and log it that way. It will be most accurate that way, because surely all of them aren’t 70 g
Does it have the “hot oil” on it? That could certainly hike the number up. I agree it’s probably not 300 but not tooo far off necessarily.
i would estimate over 300 tbh. cheese and oil alone clock in 300.
As someone who works in a pizza place, 300 sounds about right.
300 calories is pretty good for a slice haha
Yeah, I mean I estimate the pizza squares from a tray pizza at about 350. So… Idk that sounds about right to me. It’s an oily, cheesy, delicious treat lol it’s likely to be high calorie unless you’re going out of your way to find lower calorie variants
The slice is thin so that makes it mostly cheese and oil, as everyone else said 300 kcal seems realistic.
Cheese can add a lot of calroies. I make pizza a lot at home and I go light on the cheese and it makes it makes it way less caloric
Probably closer to 200. Even regular (not thin) crust pizza, unless there’s an excessive amount of cheese, is like 250 cal average for 1/8th of a medium pizza
A whole thin crust Jack’s pizza (they’re not very big) is roughly 1100 calories so this looks pretty equivalent. Pizza has never threatened to be low calorie…
I don’t trust MFP values for the most part.
I’d prob log this as 400 or 450.
ETA: each downvote is one “I’m counting my calories but not losing any weight 🤔” post.
I would say that’s about accurate. Between the flour, oil, cheese (VERY high in [saturated] fat=calories). It might even be on the low side.
As a MASSIVE fan of colony, I know how thin that beauty is. I think I usually used 300 for one of their slices. It’s barely any dough….
1/4 cup of shredded cheese is 110 calories, and that’s not much if you spread it out on a hand sized slice of pizza. So that plus sauce/oil/dough… sounds about right
Probably not. There’s different styles of pizza you know
You wouldn’t believe how much sugar is in these pizzas. Plus it’s mostly carbs which are always highest in calories. I’m sure it’s accurate.
Is hot oil an actual pizza topping ?!
Frozen California Pizza Kitchen pizzas are your (my) friend. Usually an entire pie will clock in somewhere between 800 to 920 calories. They’re my “cheat” meal and it’s really not even a cheat.
A single slice of dominos cheese pizza is 270 and the crust is mostly air and the cheese is pretty stingy.
I would say at least 300 with all the cheese and oil and sauce and flour, but it may be more.
Remember that each gram of fat represents 9 calories while the carbs and proteins are only 4 cal per gram. The cheese it’s what’s jacking it up and if they drizzle oil on it, ur easily at 300.
If it’s not 300 then there’s no way it’s less than 250
It wouldn’t surprise me honestly. Pizza is such a calorie bomb, though worth it for morale when needed of course!
I hate wasting calories on Pizza. I could have 6-7oz of lean ground beef for the same as calories that slice.
makes sense to me. a single slice of white bread is typically 80-100 calories, 3-4 tbsp mozzarella cheese (full fat) another 100-120, tomato sauce & onion 50-60 cals. Maybe its more like 250 but 300
seems pretty accurate to me
You’re not going crazy, but yes, pizza with cheese ahs a lot of calories. I am sorry for your loss.
lmao reading this comments as an Italian is crazy. the pizza here is like 250 cals per 100g how much oil are they putting on urs
Pizza is very high calorie. The thinness of that slice is what’s keeping it at 300, otherwise I would guess more.
Sadly, I would eat at least half that entire pie since it’s so thin. Looks relatively healthy for pizza, though. Thin and not loaded with cheese & toppings.
Probably less!! The crust is thin and I don’t see loads of cheese on it. No meat or pepperoni either
Looks like a nice big tasty slice, I’d say enjoy it for the likely 300 calories it is and maybe pair it with a side of arugula and fruit salad to make it a complete/filling meal. The fat and oil from the pizza will help fill you up as well, enjoy 🙂
Seems about right
My first thought was that 300 seems low, but it’s a very thin slice and there is no added meat or excessive cheese. I think 300 is pretty accurate!
The thin crust I would compare to a slice of bread which is like 100 calories. The cheese is like a slice and a half or two slices of cheese which is around 100 calories each. And then the marinara sauce is probably like 50 calories. So I’d say 300 is pretty close.
This looks super thin, kinda like dominos thin crust. Their nutrition info for a 12” thin crust cheese pizza is 300 per 1/4 pizza, which would make 1/6 of it only 200.. but maybe this place uses a lot of oil or cheese? I do think 300 sounds too high, but not impossible
I miss and love Colony Pizza!

With that being said, if you’ve ever been in their kitchens…the amount of oil they use (whether it’s a hot oil pie or not) is nuts. I’d log it at 300.

ETA–their salad pie is awesome, too.
Not everything on MFP is accurate, and calorie counting itself is an imperfect science. This doesn’t look like 300 calories to me personally, but other people on here clearly disagree so *shrug*
I usually go with my gut on these things, the margin of error is just a few hundred calories at the end of the day which isn’t going to make a real difference in your life.
If you’re eating a ton of it and your scale isn’t moving then you know something is up and you can adjust accordingly.
Pizza has a fuck ton of calories. If thus scares you, don’t look at how many calories a whole pizza at the grocery store has.
