The flavor was very mild and not salty at all.

Yeah, fresh mozz doesn’t usually have a ton of flavor. They’re better served with other stuff like fresh tomatoes, basil, good olive oil, etc, or used for pizza. You need some salt to wake them up.

Put some of these in a bowl with arugula. Drizzle with balsamic vinegar, good olive oil. Add some kosher salt and fresh ground black pepper. Sooo good

  3. You can do a great grilled cheese with them sliced in white bread but you have to season it well or it’s a waste of time.

I sprinkle salt on mine, but I also only use wet mozz as a layer in my meatloaf because the dry bagged stuff doesn’t melt the same

  5. Fresh “commercial” mozzarella tends to be bland, yes.

Get a couple ripe tomatoes and slice both the tomatoes and the mozzarella, some olive oil, oregano and a leaf of basil will make it better.

I love these. Just sprinkle some salt and you’re good. They try to minimize salt because it changes the texture.

There is a place here in Texas with the real Mozzarella (from water buffalo):

    OroBianco Italian Creamery

    https://www.orobiancomilk.com

About an hour north of where I live.

Milk Fat & Protein: Water buffalo milk contains nearly double the fat and protein of cow’s milk. This gives OroBianco mozzarella a buttery, melt-in-your-mouth texture that is noticeably softer and more tender than standard cow’s milk mozzarella.Color & Texture: Cow’s milk mozzarella is slightly yellowish (due to beta-carotene), while water buffalo mozzarella is porcelain white. When cut, high-fat buffalo mozzarella tends to “bleed” or leak its delicate, milky whey much more than cow’s milk varieties.Flavor Profile: Regular cow’s milk mozzarella is mild, sweet, and milky. Water buffalo mozzarella offers a richer, slightly more earthy and complex flavor.

All it needs is a pinch of salt and pepper.

Additionally you can drizzle some balsamic and put it over tomatoes

  9. Unless you really enjoy the flavor of plain milk It’s always going to be a little bit bland. Like other people have said it’s really meant to be eaten along with stuff or as part of a dish.

Flaky salt, (freshly cracked) pepper, and the optional drizzle of olive oil and/or red pepper flakes. A perfect snack.

  11. This one is still pretty decent, sometimes I found it here in Canada. Way better than the local stuff, because local one is even way milder and bland.

Might be a little bland but i enjoy eating it anyway, goes great with crackers and salami too, we usually get the pearls and my wife uses them for her cold salads

  13. Yes, but it’s very versatile. I combine them with cherry tomatoes & sprinkle with Everything Bagel Seasoning.

  14. Put them on mini naan and make pizzas! I use olive oil and add pizza sprinkle.

  15. Young squishy cheese is often bland. If you ever get a chance to try fresh hand made mozzarella, its much more flavorful

To pair these, a classic is grape tomatos, basil and some balalmic vinegar. On a toothpick for presentation if you like. Tastes very fresh and light 10/10

  16. Pair it with cherry tomatoes, fresh basil and balsamic glaze, it’s divine!

  17. Very bland. Think Italian tofu. Herbs, olive oil, olives, sun-dried tomatoes, capers.

It’s bland but I still buy these all the time to eat with a tomato and a dash of poorly put basil, drizzle of balsamic. I like em!

Peaches and some uncured meats and you’ll be hangin’ with guy fierri in flavor town… just be careful tho… I’ve heard rumors

  20. Personally, I actually love how bland it is and like to eat it all on its own, but in recent days I have been enjoying a salad with sliced peaches, little mozzarella balls (called cigliene), cherry tomatoes, red onion and fresh basil tossed with a white balsamic vinaigrette. It’s also important to have crusty Italian bread on hand to sop up the deliciousness left over in the bowl.

Really good sitting in a bowl of olive oil and balsamic vinegar and some flaky salt on top

  22. Yes it’s usually bland because it’s a fresh cheese. Add salt if you want to eat it plain.

A little salt goes a long way with fresh mozzarella. While it can be respected by itself for sure, this and a lot of other fresh cheeses are great vehicles for other flavors and less impressive by themselves.

That being said, when a good fresh mozzarella blows you away, it’s that much more impressive that someone could do something with such a “plain” template.
