  1. Input would he greatly appreciated! I already critiqued myself on the blue cheese placement… maybe I’ll put it around the base near the raspberries next time? I need to pick up some more finishing salt too

Just a home cook, but I’ve learned a lot from this sub. It looks delicious, and I would love to eat! In terms of plating I would go for a bigger plate or smaller portion. Also i think a different style for the meat – maybe shingle-ing? I’d also rethink the raspberries and cheese chunks, though I love the flavor combo!

I’m not really sure what to make of this dish.

I’m not a big fan of radicchio being plated with those large pieces, but that’s not really here nor there.

Slicing the filet also leaves me a little meh, particularly along the grain.

The mash is fine, good color. The whole raspberries on a meat dish, are they warm? Cold? Dressed or just bites by themselves? Whole tarragon leaves?

And yeah, the bleu cheese is just oddly crumbled. The plate is simultaneously intentional and haphazard.

This needs a rework from the ground up, I think.

Edit: also, if you’re going to photo, wipe the rims.

Oh! Sorry to lump on – my so and I love to debrief our culinary adventures, so please take it in that spirit… what about some blank space and separating the radiccio from the red meat? Could also play more with the gorgeous fall colors and/or add a color contrast. Think you nailed the flavor combo though!

  5. Think to that Jurassic Park quote.

“Your scientists were so preoccupied with whether they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should.”

Ask why your choosing to plate something a certain way or why your pairing something with something else. Looking through how dishes are plated on Instagram is a good start or just your local restaurants reviews pics.
