  1. Gouda I guess? The town received city rights in 1272, which allowed it to host markets. By 1395, it officially gained the right to trade cheese. The historic weighing house (Waag) was built in 1668 to inspect and weigh cheese. Although the traditional cheese market ended in 1947, it was revived in 1987 as a tourist attraction. Today, Gouda remains world-famous for its cheese.
