My mom came over and brought me my favorite food. Birria Tacos….. I couldn’t say nooooo!!! It’s only been one month and I’ve been doing so well!😭 the worst part is I just know I’m gonna be so hungry again later because there just not fulling enough! I guess today turned from weights day to stair master day.

Does aiming for 1200 cals sound good to make up for 3 greasy/cheesy tacos! I’m just trying to maintain rather lose today?? I weighed 148lbs, am 5’ 5’’.

  1. It was one day, and like you’ve said, you’ve been doing well. Start doing well again tomorrow and enjoy the tacos and time with your mom today.

lol yes but even one day of eating over won’t throw you off unless you let it!

Hey, I lost 10 pounds in two months and was able to fit high-calorie foods like birria tacos, alfredo, and risotto into my diet. It’s all about moderation! Don’t beat yourself up over one day of “splurging”.

  4. Shit happens. Enjoy one, but don’t use it as an excuse to gorge. Tomorrow is a new day. Aim for 1200 tomorrow.

  5. Weight loss is all about averages. Just like how 1 day of starving amongst a week of binges doesn’t make a difference, it’s the same for the opposite of that scenario. You weren’t ā€œbadā€ for eating extra today and you don’t need to punish yourself by changing up your routine to try burn off the calories or chastise yourself for it. End the day on a higher note by making sure what you eat next is nutritious and filling then get back on the 1.2K horse tomorrow.

  6. 1 lbs of fat is 3500 calories. You probably at 1500 calories at most.Ā

You’ll be fine, the water weight and glycogen will wash out over the next few days which is where most if not all of it went to.Ā

No shame in enjoying comfort food once in a blue moon.Ā

I know what you mean, but maybe just have one or two? Birria is so flavorful I feel like one would scratch the itch

Honestly sometimes if I eat something like that on occasion, I just do one meal that day.

  9. Eating over your deficit for a day is okay, I usually do averages per week since its easier for me especially since some days im barely hungry and then theres days where I feel like a vacuum cleaner, if you really are worried about it, try not to go over your maintenance calories for the day then continue your deficit the next day.

Thats one of the reasons why people unfortunately give up with loosing weight, because they feel too restricted. Wouldnt you want to do this for a day where you control the amount you eat compared to just binging a week from now cus you couldn’t get it out of your mind?

Eating tacos one time wont derail all the progress you’ve made. You’ll be okay.

I do calorie cycling, and this would look like my higher calorie day. Work some food you love into your diet or you are never going to be able to sustain it for long

  12. It’s just one day. It’s okay. šŸ‘ I feel you, though. I wouldn’t be able to turn down free birria tacos, either. šŸ˜‚

Worry about having special treat days like they’ll ruin your entire diet is how you get eating disorders.

Eating a bit more than usually every now and then isn’t going to hurt you. Actively depriving yourself from enjoying life (aka your birthday cake, holiday feasts, the special amazing tacos your mother brought for you to enjoy) will do a lot more damage than those few extra calories.

  14. You’re fine. I just went on vacation and not only birria tacos but whatever the hell else I wanted and didn’t gain a pound. When you are consistent, this shouldn’t be a big deal. Even if you weigh a pound more tomorrow, it is just water retention from sodium and/or normal weight fluctuations because bodies are weird!

I eat pizza, tacos, chipotle, whatever I want. I just eat very small portions. My son is also on a maintenance journey. He used to be 200lbs at 10 yrs old. So we will split whatever meal is designed for a ā€œsingle servingā€ (basically 3 servings in the real world). And I don’t usually finish my whole portion. I usually plan my meals for the day AROUND my special treat so I don’t over do my calories. Every Friday is my treat day. One thing I can eat that’s crap, whatever I want. Just one thing! I was 177 and now I’m 137 so I’ve lost 40 lbs it’s working for me !
