  1. I’m interested in it nutritionally, but it’s also like 6 times as expensive as other pasta, so I have trouble justifying it.

This looks yummy! Would your husband be willing to share the recipe for the veggie bolognese?

How do you make veggie bolognese and how is it different from marinara?

The more I learn about cooking the more I realize I grew up around the most unhealthy foods being the only ones you cook.

  4. Im obsessed with Carbe Diem. It’s at Publix now for 3.99, which really isn’t bad.

  5. The 9 pack is on sale now and if you add the 15% new customer coupon, it’s not quite so painful to the wallet.

Crabe Diem tastes great, but it kills my intestines, just painful for some reason 🥲

I love Carbe Diem! I believe I heard about it on this site. I order online and meal prep.

I boil a box and separate into 4 portions so each is 165 calories, then add some jar marinara sauce which is like 60 calories for 1/2 cup so 225 for a very filling meal. Honestly, at that calorie budget, you could even have a slice of garlic bread and not go too far off track.

Last night I boiled a box and made tuna casserole. With all the added tuna, veggies and the soup base, it was enough to split into six servings and the total calorie per serving was 248.

Last week, I boiled a box and made homemade hamburger helper using turkey instead. Again, under 300 calories per serving.

My son meal preps and does a southwest pasta bowl with corn, beans and other spices. We figured his was around 350 per bowl because he also makes a creamy spicy sauce.

Just make sure you drink plenty of water because the fiber is almost a full day supply and you can get constipated for too much fiber.

  8. I’ve been looking for a good veggie heavy pasta sauce. Any way you could share your husbands recipe? It looks so good!

Just a warning, products like these remove the fiber from the calories entirely but according to the FDA and plenty sources online soluble fiber has 2 calories/g because it passes undigested through the small intestine but is fermented by bacteria in the large intestine, turning it into digestible sugars for us which gives it 2 calories/g. legally, manufacturers can remove these calories entirely from the label when counted as fiber, but it is recommended to diabetics and others counting calories to add these calories back and note that this fiber is turned into a small amount of digestible starch. So 24g of fiber is equal to an additional 48 calories that aren’t included on the label.
Same with “keto” and low carb breads. Lots of sources online confirm this. It is insoluble fiber that passes completely undigested and FDA confirms that contributes 0 calories. So when I eat these low carb products, I add 2g/calorie for the fiber because it is most often made with resistant starch which acts as a soluble fiber and is partially digestible.
