  1. Not crazy, I do this too! And I like the little baby food pouches with puréed fruits and vegetables lol!

I know people post baby food as a “hack” but I have a toddler and let me tell you – the reason it’s so low calorie is because it tastes like air.

  3. It makes me so angry to see that the baby stuff is nice and healthy but the adult snacks are filled with crap. Like, I know I’m not a toddler, but maybe I don’t like a side of cholesterol with my oatcakes

  4. Honestly these are no better for you than your average rice cakes brand. This is just a tiny serving. Why pay the higher price for a product labeled baby food when you’re an adult and can buy the normal brand that is just as “healthy.”

Also saying this is full of tons of vitamins is a bit misleading as there are nearly no vitamins in rice cakes. It’s shown right there on the label.

Not dissing you, if people in this sub want to continue buying baby food then who am I to judge. But this is one of those products where you can buy a normal adult product and it’s going to give you the same thing for a lower price and larger amount in the bag.

  5. This isn’t healthy, rice in and of itself is pretty low in nutrients if it’s white (most good stuff is in the husk) and “concentrated apple juice” is a way to sneak in a ton of sugar (fructose) without labeling it sugar.

Same with: most other fruit concentrates, rice syrup.

It’s also misleading to be low in calorie. I feel for people in the US being forced to compare foods based on these absurd things like “portion sizes”. In Germany they are forced to always give calories/100 grams. That way you can always compare everything with everything. In the US you can round down to zero if it’s under a certain value so they make ridiculous portion sizes so it says “zero this”.

5 grams of ricecakes does NOT have 1 gram of natural sugars, scaled up that would be 20 grams/100 grams product. 100 grams of plain rice cakes has 0.7 grams of natural sugar.

That means this baby food is 19 grams added “natural” sugar /100 grams. From experience reading labels I can tell you that’s as much sugar as sugary granola.

PS In Germany they are not allowed to sneak in such sugars in baby food or they are forced to say only for toddlers and up.
