

Got this cheese from Little Farms and it’s the third time I’m getting a crumbly centre which I absolutely hate. The first two times were from different soft cheeses too, bries etc.
Just looks as if their cold chain got too cold at a certain point and froze the centre of the cheese which resulted in this? Could someone tell me what’s going on and do I have a case to insist on a return on this product?

This Camembert is perfectly fine, it’s just not ripe enough, I usually leave it out 2 days at room temperature before eating.
It’s just not matured fully, that’s all. Seal it as best you can and put it aside for between three days and a week.
Too fresh which is a great problem to have. Just add a touch of patience and it will be worth the wait.
Just needs to be left out of the fridge for a few days, or in the fridge for a few weeks 😊
Soft cheeses, like Camembert, ripen from the outside in. The center is just unripe. Fully edible, but will be tastier when ripe.
As a general rule of thumb, the closer the cheese is to its expiration, the chances of it being soft and oozy and ripe will be higher if that’s the texture you are looking for!
I always found the guide that comes with la rustique camembert to be helpful. I always keep mine in the fridge for a few weeks before eating, it does make the fridge very…. fragrant… though.

They “deteriorate” over time into the “melted” texture you desire.
TIL underripe cheese can continue to ripen at home. Never had this issue so I’ve never theory about, but I’m very happy to know this.

Edit: don’t care if its not fully matured, just leave it out for a couple of days and it will be gold
Just take a glass “bell” and put the cheese under the bell for a day or two to make the camembert creamier and mature a bit and it will be perfect! 3 days it’s perfect and it’d best when you want to spread the camembert on slice of bread, when I wanna eat camembert on the go I don’t mature it more at home I eat it not creamy and harder texture.
Yes, it just needs a few days but it’s always disappointing when you were hoping to eat it right away!

All cheese goes goopy if you let it set in plastic wrap in the fridge for a few days.

Looks to me that you’re somehow getting Brie that’s SO DAMN FRESH it hasn’t had time to goop yet.
Be patient, buy ahead of time, let that bad boi goop
