A bit of a lackluster year for me this year in terms of food so I decided to pick up some cheeses instead.
This year we have:
Brie with truffle – a fragrant twist on a classic.
Epoisses – a very strong, very smooth soft cheese, steeped in brandy and aged for a deep luxurious smooth but intense funk.
Chaource – similar to an aged brie, another super soft creamy cheese with a delicate funk and almost Sheepy flavours.
Cave aged Goats cheese – a mostly mild mannered cheese, firm but not waxy, crumbly but not too dry, this is a new type of aged goat cheese for me so the flavour profile is a mystery as of now.
Ossau-Iraty – an iconic Basque cheese famous for its beautiful nutty notes and delicate sweet notes, a perfect hard sheep’s cheese for any occasion.
Camembert – everybody’s guilty pleasure, especially with home made pigs in blankets to dip in as it bubbles away almost hypnotically on the table.

Ah my nicely formatted description of the cheeses has just combined its self in to a single paragraph….
Nice selection. But wrap that Epoisses well and box it separately in its own container or it’ll stink out your fridge. Lovely cheese but man it likes to share 🙂
Another tip for Tesco cheeses, try the organic cheddar, it’s particularly good. I used to sneer at the expense of organic cheese, but no more.
Great selection
Sheep milk is traditionally eaten with black cherry jam in Basque Country you should definitely try it would you happen to stumble across some
Brie truffé is one of my favorite cheeses but this one looks so small 🥲 shorter than the Camembert, usually French Bries are bigger than that
