Is that part of the plate design or is that a fennel garnish?

Everything sounds cohesive and interesting but nothing looks that way.
I think what you’ve done with the pistou looks very Pinterest-chefesque and doesn’t do the dish any justice whatsoever, it also could be thinned out quite a bit as it looks very pasty to me. The gnocchi, the cauliflower, the walnut, they all are brown or beige in some type of way and it’s hard for me to distinguish what anything is.
I would have coated everything with a small amount of pistou and I would have grated pecorino over the dish to finish. I also would’ve made the compote more visible on the plate.

You need to roll your gnocchi, not just cut it.

A rare sight on this sub: A plate that is both visually beautiful and actually looks like it tastes good. Well done!

I like this plate. The balance of ingredients, flavors, and textures is interesting and sounds good, and the layout literally invites you how to enjoy the plate bite by bite. Cohesive, thought-out, and visually pretty: well done! I love the thick texture of the green sauce, and the drip motif shows off the color and texture there really well. I want to put it all in my face.
E: also savory compote technique when pls

Really not a fan of the dripping look you gave the sauce. Seems like a buzz feed tasty plating sauce hack. A nice rustic circle of sauce around the gnocchi or mixed in would look much better and eat much better imo.

I saw this post recommended to me by reddit. I’m not a chef, and could never see myself accomplishing something like this plate. I can recognize it takes skill to assemble this.
But my first impression as an untrained person was, this gives runny nose vibes with the green stuff shaped like that. Which is a bit off putting for food to me.
Maybe I’m uncultured or just don’t understand plating, idk. But I don’t think I would choose this if other options were available to eat.

Not sure i love the drip technique but I still think you nailed it. That gnocchi looks bomb.
