Melt some cheddar over apple pie. Can’t say why it works, but it’s delish. I’d probably use a small slab from a brick of cheddar as opposed to the sliced stuff. Not that I’m snobby about the cheese, it’s just a recommendation for this particular application.

Try pear as well! In Italy we say “don’t let the farmer know how well the cheese pairs with pears” (in Italian it rhymes) as the quintessential example of simple things that bring loads of joy
