Whipped up something simple for lunch! Topped with chives and a tiny bit of lemon thyme. I could’ve gotten the air bubbles out a bit more, but thankfully the pudding stayed jiggly and soft.

I just died and went to heaven! That’s gorgeous, simple, elegant, and lovely! And I absolutely love chawanmushi!

Dish looks gorgeous but the name would not work in Germany. Not sure if Germans are into Muschi

  3. So beautiful, although I think I have to taste it to make sure it’s as beautiful as I think it is. I’ll be over in a minute. 😻

  4. Looks good. I would focus mostly on the custard. Shrimp is boring, roe is boring. But if the custard/chawanmushi is good, you got me 🙂

My grandmother used to make this and I haven’t thought about it until now. I’m Chinese so it wasn’t called Chawan mushi. She put some soy sauce and scallion on it and I would spoon it over rice.

    Nostalgia is my favorite garnish.
