I wanted to share a simple way I like to eat sashimi.
I’m using salmon here because it’s my favorite, but you can use any sashimi you already enjoy. The same marinade tastes a little different with each fish, which is fun to try.
This is not meant to replace traditional sashimi. It’s just a light twist inspired by Chinese flavors.
Ingredients
- Sashimi-grade salmon (or any sashimi you like)
- Lime
- Red onion
- Garlic
- Thai chili(It's up to you, if you don't like spicy you can forget this, but trust me, they are really good)
- Cilantro
- Wasabi
- Toasted sesame seeds(optional)
Instructions
- Lightly chill the sashimi-grade salmon, then slice into thick pieces.
- Finely dice the red onion and Thai chili. Mince the garlic. Chop the cilantro.
- Cut the lime in half. Squeeze the juice from one half and slice the other half for garnish.
- Make the marinade:
- 3 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- A pinch of Wasabi
- Fresh lime juice to taste
- A small splash of water to lightly dilute
- Mix together and chill for about 10 minutes.
- Gently toss the salmon slices in the chilled marinade just before serving. Enjoy immediately!!!
I’ll probably share more simple food recipe I usually eat at home in the future, hope you guys like it!

You might like this, it’s a bit similar but more Thai! [https://hot-thai-kitchen.com/salmon-jeh-o/](https://hot-thai-kitchen.com/salmon-jeh-o/)
Definitely not sashimi, but nothing wrong with that. Closer to poke. Looks yummy, like the fresh citrus.
