La Tur used to be packaged in a cardboard box with perforated plastic covering. Now I am seeing it is in all-plastic packaging and airtight.
I recommended the cheese to a friend recently and they said it tasted awful. Now I find the packaging has changed and it seems that it can’t breathe. It’s hard to tell from the pic but it’s quite wet in there.
Has anyone had it recently with the new packaging? Maybe my friend just had bad luck. Sad because this used to be my favorite.

I think the paper cups also suffered moisture buildup from time to time. I had a plastic cup la tur over the holidays- and wasn’t able to let it ripen up to the usual sweet spot I like- so I can’t speak to the quality. I still liked it ! I just wasn’t able to find one ripe enough for my liking, if you know what I mean.
I saw the new plastic packaging and your thoughts were my thoughts exactly: it looked wet inside and I put it back in the case. No idea why they would do this.
Can’t stand it, I feel like they’re liquifying more aggressively than ever before
Plastic cups hit shelves 6 weeks ago roughly. So far we are not seeing any noticable quality issues. If anything lasting longer. I can’t say I love it or hate it. I’m sure it’s a cost saving measure. But the cheese is still as tasty as ever.
I haven’t noticed any additional moisture from the plastic, but my last 2 batches of La Tur were young and sold quickly during the holidays. Aesthetically speaking, I hate the plastic. Commodifies it, the cardboard looked more “rustic” and easily merchandised by stacking.
I’m so happy other people are upset about this. First was il nocciolo now this. Sales have dropped to basically 0. The paper container looked so good. Also WHERE ARE THE AIR HOLES!?
sold la tur at a shop i used to work at & it definitely got soggy in the cardboard packaging but it feels like there should be a happy medium between this & that
