1. Mix dry ingredients
In a bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
2. Cream butter and sugar
Beat the softened butter and sugar for 2–3 minutes until light and fluffy.
3. Add wet ingredients
Mix in the egg, milk, vinegar, and food coloring.
4. Add flour mixture
Gently fold in the dry mixture in 2–3 portions until a smooth dough forms.
Do not overmix.
5. Chill the dough
Refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
6. Shape and coat
Form walnut-sized balls and chill again for 1 hour.
Roll each ball first in granulated sugar, then very generously in powdered sugar.
7. Bake
Preheat oven to 175°C / 350°F (top & bottom heat).
Place balls on a parchment-lined baking sheet with space between them.
Bake for 10 minutes.
8. Cool
Let rest on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.

2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder

30 g sugar (for rolling)
