Midwest staple. My husband grew up eating this and loves this meal. I did not. I had to find a recipe that I could also enjoy. I’ll put the link for it in the comments.

[This is the recipe](https://iambaker.net/tater-tot-hotdish/) I use. I also add some seasoned salt to the top of the tater tots before I put the whole thing in the oven. I’ll pan fry the leftover tater tots that don’t fit on the top of the casserole. I’ll use around 3-4 tbs of oil in a small frying pan and rotate the tots until they’re golden brown and crispy. Move to a paper towel, salt, and add a few to our bowls with some ketchup and the dished up casserole.

  2. Love tot casserole! You can kinda throw whatever in haha I usually have like half a bag of veggies in my freezer & will use those up, or whatever veggies are hanging around in the fridge lol. sometimes I like to throw in one of those packets of Lipton onion soup mix if I have them. Good stuff! Gotta have a little ketchup on top ha
