Always ask yourself “what would Gordon say” and if the first thing that comes to mind is feces, abort mission.

  2. The question which comes to mind is

“Why did the chicken plow the field.”

Cool idea and it sounds like it’s delicious, and spicy – which I love. But those rows aren’t doing much for it.

  3. Definitely leave a rim and maybe hide a bit extra sauce under the rice. Looks good otherwise, chicken seems juicy.

(I just saw that you didn’t make this yourself, but I’ll leave this anyway.)

This makes me think of skid marks. Yes, *those* kind of skid marks.
    *Contain sauce, contain sauce!*

  5. I understand what some are saying about how the sauce looks – it’s a risk you take with brown sauce. I’d suggest making your Harissa look a bit more red – I’d suggest a bit more paprika and/or tomato paste.

Should make the whole dish pop a bit more.

This is a culinary plating sub where people post their plates in order to get criticism so they can get better at their craft. If you can’t handle criticism than you really shouldn’t be posting here.

Every single smear, puddle of puree, and foamy whatever always looks disgusting. No one will ever change my mind.

You have to take the criticism and work with it. We cook for others, not ourselves. I love a smear and even posted one last week (it was chocolate. Perhaps the worst of all smears) and most advice was to lose it. I’ve changed presentation now (will post soon) and I think the advice definitely helped. If people don’t like the new look, I’ll change it again!

  9. I’d add some cilantro, whole green olives or even grilled lemon round slices, some contrasting colors could help.

I’m surprised to see people have a problem with the way the sauce was plated but it actually drew my attention. I think it looks like art work and brings the plate together as a whole… perhaps just a cleaner finish on the end of the plate
