I mean, I know shrimp might as well be water bugs, but this is kind of unsettling personally.

Hard to tell the size from the photo, but if this is more than one bite it looks like it’s very messy to eat

I just want to know how to eat this. I got nothing as far as culinary critique. Probably only that maybe use a different type of camarones.

  4. Hello fellow North Sea chef! Love the use of brown shrimp, their flavour is awesome. Would it be an idea to add some light colors like slices of raw mushroom to make the petals pop and reduce the monotony of brownish colours?

edit: actually, the other picture you posted on a dirty tray looks way better than this one! Ignore my comment!

  5. This does not look appetizing in the least. It seems like there’s way too much shrimp on here and the arrangement looks like dirty shrimp cocktail. There’s something primal being triggered in me saying “this is gross; don’t eat”, even though it might taste good. Can’t put my finger on it.

If I were to describe this in one word it would be unsettling… I’m sure it’s delicious but I would have a hard time eating this without the shrimp stack reminding me of bugs

  7. Lots of brown overpowering the dish, despite the use of different color on top.

Personally finding it unappealing as brown like that feels dirty. I’m sure it tastes great, but there’s something about the color and presentation that’s turning me off.

Try going for a more fresh look and utilizing some other color.

  8. This plating doesn’t do the ingredients any justice. Everything looks sad and like it’s made of bugs.

  9. Interesting concept for a tartelette, but I think you need more restraint. If you lose the shrimp or replace it with a “shellfish” aioli you would achieve the result you’re looking for (accenting the wagyu I assume).

Maybe slice the shrimp long ways and layer them under the other ingredients, so they don’t look like plump little grubs? I’m sure it tastes delicious. I just scrolled through your profile and your food looks amazing.

  11. Looks like food that would be given to you if you landed on an alien planet.

Quite grotesque. I’d eat it, but I’d really have to work myself up to it.

    Just overall extremely unappealing.

Needs more color, and please don’t arrange the shrimp so they look like legs. 🙁

  12. Any of those single ingredients could have been the diva on stage, but instead you put all 5 of them together and they’re bitch fighting it out.

  13. Hideous. As others have said, looks like a centipede. Visually a big no on this insect pie.

Go for bright, vibrant, fresh colors instead.

Also, I almost forgot: shrimp, liver (?), and raw beef – what a foul combination even if it didn’t look like it crawled from underneath a rock.

  14. It sounds so decadent, but visually it’s very… blech. Needs more vibrance and color to offset the browns.

  15. This looks like one of those things that appears in a Resident Evil game that crawl around on the walls and then jump and leech on your face.

  16. Aside from the way it looks, so we really need wagyu tartare, smoked foie gras, AND all them shrimp in a single tart?

It’s like someone googled the most expensive ingredients and chucked them all on a plate. They’re being wasted.
