Hi, I bought ‘Kraft Cheddar Cheese Spread Original’ from a UAE store, but the label’s ingredients are too small to read. On their website, it’s mentioned that the cheese contains rennet from cows. Does this make it non-vegetarian since it contains cow rennet?
I haven’t opened the cheese spread yet because I emailed Kraft on ‘contactus@arlafoods.com’ and tweeted @KraftBrand on “X” (Twitter) to ask if they use cow rennet in all their products, but I haven’t received a satisfactory response yet. In one of their replies, they claimed it’s vegetarian. I am a Hindu from Goa and don’t eat beef or pork; the only non-veg foods I eat are fish and chicken.
I used to believe that all cheese was vegetarian, but after reading the ingredients on Kraft’s website, I am shocked. Do you know which other cheese brands use animal rennet?
Now, I am scared to try any vegetarian food containing cheese, fearing that restaurants may use cheese made with animal rennet.
I got their response & here it is https://twitter.com/mealswithkraft/status/1717124954720755742?t=mx2VVB52tSt2NRFNtg17lQ&s=19
