The math is right if your tdee is actually 1600. Your tdee wouldn’t be 1600 unless you were a short female who weighs like 130 pounds and is sedentary.

As a general rule, don’t go under 1200 to lose weight unless you’re under medical supervision. Calorie counting apps often just use formulas to calculate recommended amounts and it doesn’t take all factors into account.
It’s better to lose weight at a slower pace than to try to lose it faster and risk health complications.

I had some sites calculate under 1200.. I was plateaued for months and was eating 1150-1200 wasn’t losing anything. I recently upped it to 1350-1400 and the scale is dropping now.
These calculators can give you an idea but I wouldn’t go under 1200 as that’s bare minimum but bare minimum may not be enough for your body to function. The calculations are decent baselines but you’ll have to see what works specifically for you.

What are your stats? Hard to answer without them. Generally you should only eat under 1200 when under medical orders, so you’re right to be sceptical here.

If it’s suggesting you eat under 1200, try increasing your activity levels alongside calorie counting and eating more. As a short woman with a desk job I wasn’t able to consistently lose until I also increased my activity levels, because eating under 1200 isn’t sustainable, and eating under 1400 is very difficult to do healthily.
Also if it works out you’re only cutting 1lb every 10 days or something, progress is progress

What’s your height and weight? Don’t go under 1200, make up the difference with exercise if you need to. Also if you are small enough that you actually need to eat under 1200 to lose 1lb/week, then even losing half a pound/week will likely be as noticable on your frame as a large person losing 1-2lbs/week.
