Checked out Cesar tonight. Heard positive things going in, with multiple people warning about the potential for upselling and supplementary courses. I did not feel that to be an issue, they asked me at the beginning if I was interested and I said no, I want the standard menu.
Comparing tonights experience at Cesar from my visit to Chefs Table at Brooklyn Fare in 2021 raised some interesting points.
CTBF – visited 2021
– 3 Michelin stars
– Chef Cesar
– 13 courses –> 4 bites, 1 spoon, 6 fork/knife, 2 desserts
– Of the 6 dishes eaten with fork/knife, 5 were fish and 1 was steak
– 1 caviar topped appetizer
Cesar – visited May 2026
– 2 Michelin stars
– Chef Cesar
– $365
– 11 courses –> 5 bites, 2 spoons, 2 fork/knife
– Of the only 2 dishes eaten with fork/knife, 1 was fish and 1 was lamb. Steak was offered as a supplemental course.
– No caviar appetizer.
So, in summary, a very nice meal, but left slightly disappointed and hungry compared to my 2021 visitÂ
