Today was my Cantonese MIL’s 75th birthday, and for months I’ve been learning and practicing a handful of Chinese dishes so I could gift her a homemade meal.

    I made:

    – Lion’s Head Meatballs with napa cabbage, a NYT recipe

    – Crispy garlic shrimp from Made with Lau

    – Longevity Noodles from Wok of Life (but with sweet potato noodles due to some gluten sensitivity)

    – Mixed greens with garlic and lightly sauce soy sauce

    – And chicken, daikon, shiitake soup based on a wonderful recipe my MIL taught me

Had rice as well, and custard with fruit for dessert.

So tired but everything was delicious, and my MIL was beyond happy. I even got a nod of approval from my FIL when he tried the Lions Head.

Hope you all had a good dinner tonight too!
