  1. An excellent & simple meal I need to make more often.

    The large beef & cheese meatballs were first pan braised separately, and then finished cooking in the homemade heirloom tomato sauce in the oven (covered w/ a lid).

    And when I made this, I also incorporated the drippings from the pan braised meatballs into the home garden heirloom tomato sauce (adding much more richness & meaty flavors to the sauce). I don’t do this step all the time, but it’s a nice change from a simple tomato sauce preparation. And the added drippings are why the tomato sauce is dark in the picture.

    A great meal & widely enjoyed by family / guests. A highly recommended try.
