[I ate] Today’s lunch in my military unit somewhere in Ukraine: Ukrainian red borscht with smetana, boiled potato with meat, and salad (chicken, egg, pineapple, onion, mayo)

Excuse my total ignorance, but the borsch shouldn’t be more “vibrant” red? Been in a borsch discovery journey myself.
Tasty
Based on the color of the soup you are in Lvov.
I also see Bread, the unsung hero. Essential for dipping and sopping up the last of your borshch. Compliments to your unit’s chef. Yum…Smachnoho!
Do you happen to have a recipe for white borscht?
Pineapple? Are you sure?
