This is a simple black pepper beef recipe I usually make at home.
You can use any beef you like. If you want the beef to be extra tender, tenderloin or steak cuts work best.
I am using steak here as an example, but feel free to use whatever you have.
The key to good texture is the marinade. It only takes about ten minutes, and longer marinating will give more flavor.
Beef Marinade
- 2 tablespoons cooking wine. Vodka also works if you like.
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce.
- 1 quarter teaspoon salt.
- 1 tablespoon oil to keep the beef juicy.
- A very small pinch of baking soda. This is the key to Juicy beef.
Mix everything with the beef cubes and marinate for about ten minutes. Set aside.
Vegetables
- Dice bell peppers and onion.
- I used a fajita veggie mix from Nugget because I wanted to save time.
- Mince ginger and garlic.
Black Pepper Sauce
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce.
- 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce.
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce.
- 1 tablespoon ketchup.
- 1 teaspoon sugar.
- 1 quarter teaspoon salt.
- 2 tablespoons black pepper.
- 1 half teaspoon white pepper.
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch.
Cooking
- Heat a pan on high heat, add a little oil
- Add the marinated beef and stir-fry until just cooked and browned
- Remove the beef, don’t clean the pan
- Add ginger, garlic, peppers, and onion — stir-fry until slightly soft
- Put the beef back in, turn heat to max
- Pour in the black pepper sauce and stir quickly
- Finish with a tiny splash of sesame oil, toss, and you’re done
ENJOY!
