I’ve been continuing a family tradition for family the last five years or so from my parents & my youth, which is a New Year’s holiday family meal of king crab.
There was no southern king crab available locally this year (relatively available usually & not too expensive), so I found king crab sources on line and ended up choosing premium colossal size Alaskan red king crab for the first time ever. They were much more expensive, but in the end we wanted to try & yolo.
Adult portions were 1.5 lbs each & the king crab legs were steamed then plated & served with hot butter in warmers and optional fresh cut lemons (plus sparkling wine).
Incredibly good & tasty, the best crab I’ve tried. A big hit with everyone & highly recommended.
