Black eyed peas slow simmered with bell pepper, onion, celery, green chilies, garlic, salt and pepper and a meaty ham bone. Of course paired with some greens, rice, cornbread, and hot sauce.

  1. This is our second year making black eyed peas and they don’t seem to make a thick bean broth like what you have when we make them.

    Is there a trick to getting a bean broth like you’d expect with pintos, black beans, etc? when you slow cook black eyed peas?

    Looks delicious btw.
