I'm quite a fan of Asian food, so I made this dish. I didn't follow any recipes, so any recommendations are welcome!

Ingredients:

  • basmati rice
  • leek
  • chicken
  • teriyaki sauce
  • soy sauce
  • rice or apple vinegar
  • sugar (to counter the acidity a bit)
  • salt and pepper (for the rice)

It was delicious for me! I'm open to listen any opinions/suggestions :D!

Soy sauce and additional sugar will already be in the teriyaki sauce, so it’s a bit redundant.

Something to try for next time: All you need for legit teriyaki is your chicken (IMO boneless, skin-on thigh is the best), and a mix of roughly equal parts soy sauce, mirin, and sake. Maybe a dash of sugar if the mirin doesn’t sweeten it enough for your taste. Anything above and beyond that is optional; like some grated ginger or garlic or a few drops of sesame oil or what have you.

No need to marinate the chicken or anything like that in advance. You can cook it in a pan on its own to like ~70% doneness, then add your sauce, and baste with a spoon while it reduces down to a thick consistency.

Rice I think is ideally served plain and is a balance point to the rich savory sweetness of the teriyaki chicken.
