My Nanny taught me this 40 or so years ago and I made it once again today. It has a sugar-cookie sweetness that is the best.

  1. My grandmother would make this pie completely from scratch. But, I make it using ready to bake pie dough baked on a flat cookie sheet and cooled so I can slide them off. And then I prepare cook and serve pudding mix of any flavor and let it cool. Then I assemble by sliding the first cooled crust onto a serving plate. Then top the crust with the cooled pudding. Then slide the second cooled crust on top. Then finally I prepare a powdered sugar and milk icing to spread over the top.

  2. “French pie” is compelling me to make “dad jokes”…I’m trying to fight it…made of French people, food for making out, travesties of that ilk..the horror!
