I do have a dumb American question. How are you supposed to eat the clams\mussels?
There are a couple of Thai restaurants locally that serve somewhat similar dishes. They taste amazing, but I feel like I need to be hidden in a corner away from public view while I’m tearing animal carcasses apart in order to eat it. The flavors are amazing, but I find inedible parts of soup to be really unappealing. Especially given that mussels can be kind of hard to remove from the shell.
