I’ve been in a calorie deficit for three weeks because I’m trying to lose weight. I got up to 132 lbs (5’1”). I want to lose 15 lbs

My boyfriend does not struggle with his weight. He is 6’1” 210 lbs and very active, so I knew he could eat a large number of calories but I did not expect this.

On Sunday we spent the entire day together and ate things that were easy for me to keep track of and compare, so I decided to seize the opportunity. The only thing I’m really guessing is how many peanuts and how much butter he used at Texas Roadhouse. But I don’t think I’m far off.

I did this for my own curiosity and felt an urge to share it with someone, and this sub was the only people I could think of lol

I do wonder if he’s going to start gaining weight now that I’m on a diet though, because ordinarily we’d split things like the Starbucks cookie and the dinner rolls lol

Okay but I have never heard of that matcha drink from Starbucks.. thanks for the inspo!! And it’s never fair how much guys get to eat 😒

  2. UGH, I’ve wanted to do this with my (5’2”) fiancé (6’1”) but know it would just piss me off, and I was right 😭

  3. I am very active, my husband is extremely active. I’ll be making dinner and, from the healthy ingredients we use, literally cannot figure out how to get him enough calories some days. I’ll have to tell him, “You’re either eating ALL THE RICE or you’re going to have to snack.” So it’s not all great – you’re really famine resistant and eating as much food as really active men need is actually sort of unpleasant.

  4. I am losing my mind that he ate an entire pint of Ben and Jerry’s! 6 rolls and Dr Peppers… jebus!

my husband has a small appetite and is very thing despite being 6’4 and tbh, this post makes me appreciate that bc i would go insane if i was watching someone eat a lot when i was unable to

  6. My husbands would be the same. Even higher if more potato chips hit his mouth instead of the floor 😣

I could only ever date a dude that doesn’t eat much lol. This would drive me absolutely nuts

I’m married to a 6’0” 190 lb Sicilian man who I think is just a calorie vacuum at this point… he is 80% of the grocery budget and like 70% of the bill when we go out lol

  9. Men could literally eat every piece of food on the planet and still lose 20 pounds in 24 hours.

Just a note, your BF is technically in the “overweight” category, so depending on his bodyfat%/lean muscle mass, this could be more calories than he actually requires.

  11. My bf is an inch taller than me and 10 pounds lighter but gets 300 extra calories. Its actually so depressing.

its the worst. I am 5’3 with a small frame. 1200 is the most i can eat and lose weight. My partner is 6’5 and works in construction. They loose weight on 3500.

  13. My 6’2 215lb bf asked me to help him set a calorie budget so he could get back to 200. At his activity level he had to eat 2600 calories to lose 1lb a week 🥲 he tried it for a day and said it felt like he was starving himself and he would just add an extra run in instead.

The calories for the rolls and honey cinnamon butter are wrong. They should be 0 calories as they are made from the gods and don’t count towards your caloric intake at all, per the sacred writings.

Over the summer I was biking long distance a lot and would regularly be eating north of 7,000 calories.

My 6’2″ husband is also on a deficit right now and even his deficit calories are at least double mine 😭

I’ve done this with my wife, who is very active, taller, on a bulk, and still riding the “didn’t hit 35 yet” metabolism.

    Very similar numbers too.

I started feeling depressed about it, but then I decided to reframe:

We have different bodies with different needs. They don’t need my glasses, I don’t need their allergy meds, they don’t need my wheelchair, I don’t need their mouthguard. We have different dietary needs. We wear different size clothes. Heck, we don’t even sleep with the same blankets – I’m one of those women who’s *always* cold and I have like 3 duvets piled up, my wife is an always hot person who wears a t shirt all winter.

We have a lot in common, but we aren’t the same person. It’s ok to eat differently.

  18. I don’t know. Your bf might get to eat more calories and for that yes, he’s lucky. But even so, he is overweight and that suggests he is probably eating more than he needs to. I’m not sure how he can possibly feel good eating that much sugar, fat, and salt in one day. I’m not judging, it’s just something I know I couldn’t do without feeling sick. I’m assuming this isn’t representative of how he normally eats so maybe if it’s just one day it wouldn’t bother him, but if it were me I would not feel good eating like this even for one day. I always regret it when I do. I’m not super strict and I probably eat more sugar than I’m supposed to, but the breakfast alone would probably send me into a coma. While you ate significantly less food, your day seems like it would be so much better in terms of your day to day energy. I don’t feel restricted by eating healthy, but I do feel restricted by how little I can eat in quantity.
