  1. OMAD is fine, but you need to meet your nutritional needs. This incudes vitamins, minerals, and fibre.

    Do you eat vegetables?

  2. I love OMAD for weight loss, and its not horrible for muscle gains either. Much like any form of fasting the hardest part is getting through the first snack or meal you WERE GOING to eat. Once that first hunger pang fades you’ll be OK. In theory 1200 cal and OMAD should be a very strong combo since you’ll likely be in ketosis for several hours a day. I definitely recommend it, and for that matter I also recommend a 3 day fast for anyone who hasn’t tried it. My results were incredible.

As the other person said, OMAD is not for everyone, plus I can say that OMAD with the wrong foods can do more harm than good. I got high visceral fat, which caused me to become insulin resistant and grow dark hair on my face, when eating my OMAD in doughnuts or burgers. I would suggest adding some fiber (veggies, fruits) and you should be golden

i would add some veggies, if only a tomato, some lettuce, onions and pickles if you don’t want to make it a whole thing, else you’ll have problem with going to the bathroom. they would add less than 100kcals.

you may be losing weight this way, but you’d be lacking in so many nutrients and fiber.

Eat a vegetable before your teeth start falling out

Edit: Judging by OP’s post history they’re gonna die.

  6. It’s better to have a window instead of a single meal, it’s better to stack it earlier in the day than late, and holy shit how to get fiber lol? This looks like 0-2 grams and you should be getting 20+ lol

  7. Shelikestheboobs on

It’s not for me. I prefer at least 3 meals per day.
I’m curious what time of day people do their one meal? Is it mostly an evening meal?

OMAD is yet another fad calorie restriction routine… just eat clean and balanced, restrict your calories if you need / want to lose weight but distribute them over the day, less at night before you go into a state where you won’t burn as much. It’s not complicated.

    My brother. Have some broccoli.

Food is for nutrition. Hamburger and white bread will not get you the nutrients you need.

OMAD or 2 meals a day close together is my usual. I just can’t have 3-6 meals a day without going over my calorie budget. Personally I’ve found that it’s the only way to keep the food noise at bay, too.

  11. Cut out the bread and you’ll have a lot more calories to put towards some rice, potatoes, cottage cheese and vegetables.

  12. You can eat a lot more volume than this for 1200 calories if you choose less processed foods.

I have all but abandoned bread in my diet as it has a lot of calories but don’t satiates me that much.
I would replace the buns with veggies.

fucking hell everyone getting their knickers in a twist at the thought of going *one whole day* without vegetables is hilarious

  15. Everybody is correctly pointing out that you need more vitamins and fiber. I’d also like to point out that you likely need more than 1200 kcal/day as well. That’s only a safe and sustainable amount per day for very small people, and if you’re over 5’4″ you need to eat more *even if you’re trying to lose weight*.

Also hopping on the bandwagon to point out that eating veggies full of vitamins and fiber will help you lose weight too. Maybe look into bean brownies? Even people who don’t like beans love then!

  16. I don’t want to be that person, but I’d rather kitchencels not bleed into this sub. This sub is centered mostly around petite women’s caloric needs. Men from an already toxic subreddit, that generally have unhealthy opinions of women, don’t need to cross post or bring attention here.

You need more nutrient dense foods. If you’re not a small woman, or bedridden, 1200 likely isn’t enough in general.

Go figure out your TDEE on tdeecalculator.net, figure out your macros AND micros, then build your omad around that. Not liking vegetables is a cop out. Adults prioritize health. What’s the point of weight loss if you’re fast passing to colon cancer and going to lose your hair?

Find vegetables you like, and stick to it. You didn’t need to eat 2 slices of cheese per burger either. This could have easily been a volume dense meal with burgers. 2 burgers on a what bun, cheese, air fried potatoes that went in with the burger, microwaved broccoli and throw the extra cheese slice on it. You could have went to McDonald’s and probably ate more food for 1200.

  17. It’s recommended that men eat at least 1500 calories a day, and that is for short and sedentary men. So you probably need to eat more than that. There’s no reason for you to eat only 1200 calories a day.

Eating 0.5kg of mince with 2 burger buns and 2 slices of cheese likely isn’t going to be meaningfully good to help you lose weight. Never mind not eating any fruit or veg or nutritious stuff. I can see from your post history you eat a lot of mcdonalds and stuff so I’m guessing you might not know what to actually cook. Look up recipes online and choose ones you like. You’re a guy so 1200 calories a day is too little. Find how many calories your maintenance is and eat 500 below that. You’ll shed off the weight and feel better about yourself.

  19. Future_Class3022 on

That looks incredibly unhealthy. Skip the bread. Add healthy, low starch vegetables. You don’t need crappy cheese. Add nuts or avocado instead.

  20. CCPWumaoBot_1989 on

Think of the money you’d save as well if you’re not buying a meal deal and multiple mcdonalds meals multiple times a week. You could save an extra 50 quid a week from not spending this much (on what is shite, only giving you instant short-term gratification and making you feel miserable) and go on holiday or buy yourself something you like

You would get more nutrition eating the plate. Definitely an American. Too lazy to use a real plate.

  22. I literally just came here hoping to find some comments saying that it’s not 1200 kcal and it was overestimated, but apparently no one thinks that, and I have to face the reality of how much I have been underestimating the calories in my meals when I went out to eat occasionally 😭😭😭

  23. It is fine if you can stick to it. I’m down 25kg(while being physically disabled) and I’ve done it with mostly having 2 meals a day. My deficit is 1360 kcals. I tend to eat a 300-400 kcal meal for breakfast and that gives me about 1000 kcal for dinner which means I can have pretty much anything I want. I tried having small meals but I was constantly thinking about food and the portions didn’t left me satisfied. I read that you don’t like vegetables if I were you I would try different ones to find some I like(besides health benefits they fill you up better too). You don’t have to eat steamed veggies but I feel like cucumber slices or carrot sticks would be a nice addition.
