im chinese and grew up eating pork blood soup, and just realized its entirely protein. like straight up muscle gains.

extremely low calorie as well when made into a filling soup

for those concerned about flavor, its like a soft tofu and tastes like the seasonings it's flavored with. basically a blank pallet

now im wondering if vampires are absolutely jacked since their diet is primarily blood..

    LOL not the trigger warning

I wish I had authentic Chinese shops here. I’m anemic, so I try to eat foods like liver and stuff. The texture looks nice

thast so cool when you find out the cultural food you normal eat has great macros!
My dads side is Mexican and we have Menudo, which is basically beef stomach soup, its similarly really high protein

edit: the vampire comment made me lol šŸ˜‚

ā€œ1 cup servingā€ of congealed blood just sounds funny to me. Is this a nutrition label for vampires?

I needed a TW going to my Asian supermarket and seeing Pig Uterus in a deli container.

  4. That looks beautiful! Thank you for sharing and explaining to us uncultured people lol.Ā

This looks like something I would be a little nervous to order but then delighted I went for it. Calories are solid, too.

Those macros are insane. I have eaten heart and figured blood would be similar – very irony and almost like liver.

  7. I’ve eaten mostly vegetarian all my life but when I was living in Korea, some aunties at a restaurant near my house would give me similar soup for free with my meal. I ate it almost everyday for a couple weeks before I realized it wasn’t tofu lol it wasn’t bad at all!

  8. I love this stuff! Thank you for reminding me. Gonna eat it now. But I do question the accuracy of those numbers because it’s suggesting that the pork blood is 3.96 Cals/g of protein, which is really difficult to achieve since pure protein is 4 Cals/g.

  9. Totally off topic but I’m a vegetarian, have been for 15 years. This means I’ve met some crazy vegans and vegetarians on my travels.

I stayed in a hostel with these two vegan guys who tried to make pork blood with their own blood. They said because it was consensual consumption, it was vegan. There’s also an Italian (maybe Spanish) chocolate dessert thing made with blood (can’t remember the name) that they made as well.

Yes, they were successful. No, I did not try some when offered.

I grew up hating this and one day I randomly switched and became obsessed with it, lol! So good!!

  11. Wait, how do you fit 52 grams of protein in 206 Calories though?

    (52 g) ā‹… (4 Cal/g) = 208 Cal

Oh my god! I love this! Instead of using tofu when I make hot and sour soup at home I used pork blood curd or pork blood tofu as it is sometimes called instead of firm tofu. It’s so rich in iron has great protein content and great mineral content as well. It’s super healthy!

I don’t think it’s that blank. It has a little bit of… interesting flavor to it. Grew up eating it a lot in congees

I’m a basic ass white girl who gets down with blood cubes, chicken feet, pig trotters, tendon, and tripe in soups….my friends are horrified, but I always tell them I’ll be the last one laughing and looking fantastic because of all the collagen I eat. Now I can also brag about the mad protein gains I’ll be making 🤣

  15. Ooh I’d try it. Never had it before but it reminds me of the macros of tendon, commonly in pho

  16. Historical_Scene4901 on

Yeah, but it’s horrendously unethical. You can get a large amount of protein through seitan and it’s cruelty free

  17. I had pork blood soup in thailand and it was delicious. I figured it must be super healthy

  18. My local Malatang restaurant offers duck blood cubes. I have been dying to try them because I enjoy blood sausage (which is unfortunately high in calories) but I’ve been too scared. I didn’t want a couple of cubes to flavor my entire bowl, in case I didn’t like it…

    I should try
