Mixing nuts with popcorn helps with the volume aspect to balance out what feels like a small portion of dense calories.

While that’s 200 calories, the good news is that your body doesn’t absorb all of the calories in nuts. Only about 80%. So 160 calories ftw.

I used to eat two tubes of honey cashews and two servings of seasoned pretzels on a four hour work shift. I felt like I had just had some light snacks, but that was damn near 900 calories! 😱

I had to break up with my Costco and Trader Joe’s bags of nuts. Those TJ Thai spiced cashews… I’ll eat til I’m past my calories (for the week).

Somebody help me find that post where the poster was like: do you even understand how many calories are in a nut

I like to chop them or process them to use on salads or yogurts son it feels more streched out lol.

Damn. I just had like three handfuls of what you have shown lol
Thanks for the reminder

My dumb ass used to keep a giant container of almonds in my desk and easily eat 2000 cals of almonds a day because “healthy” before I learned about tracking calories.

Reminder that 200 calories of nuts is very different from 200 calories of an ultra-processed protein snack. 200 calories of whole nuts comes with protein, fibre and intact cell walls that slow digestion and limit how much energy you actually absorb. In contrast, 200 calories of an ultra-processed protein snack is rapidly digested, almost completely absorbed, and often combined with sweeteners or refined starches that do little to keep you full. On paper calories look the same, but in your body they’re not.

damn that’s nuts

Unfortunately this is why I don’t buy nuts anymore 😔 they’re so good but you can so easily eat too much of them or start eating your tiny little serving and then get sad when you can’t eat more

When people eat “healthy” and don’t know why they aren’t losing. A pound of “they barely eat!”
I know not you OP but people just don’t understand how much calories is in things like nuts!! They are very healthy and yummy but people (who are on a weight loss journey) think they can eat a bag of them because they are healthy.

I would eat almost 800 calories of hazelnuts every single day for 2 weeks before I decided to look up the calories… I was shocked 😭 I thought I was eating lowcal

The more I think of it, the more I’m wondering if humans were actually owing a huge part to their survival as a species to nuts. They are SO energy dense.

They say nuts are crucial for the MIND. What is my best bet if I am watching calories, but want to consume nuts.
