I made a batch of what we always called
Poor Man’s Caviar (aka Texas caviar, cowboy caviar, basically a dense bean salad) and we’ve always used Fritos scoops to eat it with. I’m looking for a lower calorie scooping option that still has a good crunch to it! Open to any suggestions yall may have.

  1. A lot of high protein, low calorie tortilla options these days. Cut into preferred shape, bake or air fry.

You can cut carb smart tortillas into chips, toss with 1 tsp water + 1/4 tsp salt, put on a baking sheet and bake for 10 min at 350 degrees and it makes the yummiest low cal tortilla chips!! My go to! Only 70 cals!

Take some 25 cal mission tortilla chips and air fry them at like 360 degrees usually like 10 minutes but I start checking them frequent after 5 minutes. They crisp up nice and I don’t use oil.

  4. the brand “from the ground up” makes cauliflower chips in a few different forms that are pretty low cal

Another idea I haven’t seen mentioned yet is bell peppers. If you cut bell peppers into quarters, they make their own scoops. If you don’t mind some flat pieces, you can cut into smaller pieces. Larger fresh hotter peppers would probably work as well.

Celery? Good crunch, low flavor so it won’t battle with the already existing flavors?

Cucumber slices, pita chips, flat cut carrots, zucchini bits, bell pepper spoons
