This is my first time in my adult life trying to lose weight the healthy way. I’m a 5’4 woman and currently ~141lbs. I started at around 145, so already seeing some progress! I’ve been watching what I eat a bit more closely for the past few weeks, but I’m starting to lock in.

It’s important to me that I let myself eat things I want to eat (pizza, burgers, desserts) even if I go over my allotted calories some days. I’ve still been averaging around 1400kcal a day for the past couple weeks, so it all balances out!

This is mostly just a celebration post and a hello! This community has been a huge help for advice and recipe ideas without veering too far into ED territory, which I’ve struggled with in the past. Thank you for all of the great recommendations!!!

  1. You are doing amazing, well deserved congratulary post! So much more disciplined than me.

  2. Have you talked to a professional about whether calorie tracking is a good idea for you, given your history of eating disorders? Generally calorie counting is not recommended for people with a history of eating disorders, as it can easily lead back into disordered habits.

  3. On the note of previous DE (same) don’t hurt yourself if you slip up… just get back on the horse the next day, or take a couple days if you need to:) it’s not going to destroy all of your progress, give yourself grace, and keep pushing

  4. For me, having to record everything started to put stuff in perspective for me. And it became easier to cut certain things out that just didn’t feel worth the calories.

  5. congrats!! great work so far! the way you are doing it is smart — you don’t have to abstain from the many pleasures of life, just be mindful and make good choices. you can still have a cheeseburger but maybe avoid the double patty bacon burger, you know?

also not to pressure you but have you tried coke zero??? it’s so good and sugar and cal free hehe
