  1. Yes because 1 cup of popcorn is literally nothing, it’s all air. A bag of it is 250 calories, as noted in the serving size

Popcorn is a great lower calorie snack. It looks like that might be Jolly Time? They also make 100 or 110 calorie bags that are good for portion control.

I used to work in the same shopping center as a mom and pop popcorn shop (that’s a fun phrase) and they sold huuuuuuuuge six-foot bags for like $10. I did the math on them for fun one time and the entire bag (salted, no extra oils) was somewhere around 550-600 calories.

  4. I don’t know why this sub thinks somehow nutrition labels would ever not be real.

They are legally enforced to be within +/-20% of the actual value, and no one is conspiring to actively misreport the data because newsflash: most people don’t read nutrition labels. It is not worth the fucking time to try to commit fraud where there would be no benefit.

This particular one is 250 / 275 calories per bag. It still lets you eat ‘a lot’ for the calories, but it would probably be more filling to just eat some rice with meat for the same calories or like a loaded potato or something. Popcorn is an ‘air snack’ so it’s not filling, but you get to eat at it for a while.

    110 calories per serving * 2.5 servings per bag = 275 calories / bag
    20 calories per cup * 12.5 cups per bag = 250 calories
