Okay, my title may be harsh. I went to The Inn at Little Washington and there’s only so much service can do to make up for the food. For my time in the DMV area, it seems like I could either have good service or good food; never both! The best carpaccio was…inspired… however, nothing really moved my needle.

The most memorable thing I experienced was the water menu. I found a new favorite water, so I can thank them for that.

  1. Agreed – went there a few years ago and felt they didn’t adequately compare with the other “not in a big city but rather you need to make a special trip to go visit” 3 stars such as Singlethread, The Fat Duck, or El Celler de Can Roca.

Went about 7-8 years ago and was very unimpressed and thought it was 2* at best. We stayed at the inn which I must say was a nice experience and the service was phenomenal.

I went a couple years ago when they had 3 stars. I enjoyed the meal but really could not distinguish it from the 2-star meals I had had.

That sign is extremely cringey. Do the waiters wear standalone suit vests and converse and have mustache tattoos on their fingers?

Michelin need to fully sack-off the USA as it’s clearly a bollocks place to do fine – dining . This is why we have the Ritz at 2* when your 3* aren’t better than a ‘happy eater’. Standards guys, standards

I would personally be livid with that dumb little AI sign at that price point. They didn’t bother looking at or correcting that weird little plane so how far does the lack of attention to detail go?

  7. Your title isn’t harsh. It was operating at a 1 star level (US star) at best when I went 3 years ago. Your pictures look worse than what I experienced then.

Went the other year and it was an abomination. Should definitely lose all of its stars.

I have been saying this and getting downvoted for two years. Couldn’t agree more!!!

Went there the beginning of this month and totally disagree. But then I think the water service was the most-stupid thing ever. I laughed out loud at the “water sommelier”.

That place was coasting on its *** for many years. It’s not the only one.

  12. My husband and I went right before they lost their star and I ordered the vegetarian menu and actually had to choke down a few of my courses i found them so unpleasant. The AI slop stuff is icky, I suspect the owner refuses to let go of any reins he honestly gave me the creeeps lol. But we too found our favorite sparkling salty water there.

  13. Water menu sounds like the dumbest thing ever. I’d be willing to bet they could fill these bottles with dollar store purified water and no one would be able to tell the difference

This restaurant was probably my most disappointing meal I’ve ever had. I had high hopes, and made the drive out there from DC, maybe in 2019? Definitely pre-pandemic, and in the early years of the Michelin Guide in DC.

The food was good, but nothing stood out as something special or doing anything I hadn’t seen before.

The service when I went was actually bad. Not just not up to fine dining standards at that price point/critical reputation, but actually bad. Our server seemed inexperienced. We asked to speak with the somm for some wine recommendations, were told OK, and then the courses just started marching out well before we had an opportunity to make drink orders. Slow playing the eating of the first real course also turned out to be a mistake, because they brought out our second course and stood there while waiting for us to finish our plates. Then, once we finally got going with the wines we ordered, we felt rushed as they were clearly trying to turn over our table for the next seating.

It wasn’t a great experience, which would’ve been forgiveable if the food was in the top 10 of restaurants I’ve eaten at in the DC area (it wasn’t).

I haven’t been willing to give them another chance. Driving out there to be disappointed makes it way worse.
