Want to preface that I have been going to Michelin star restaurants every time I travel abroad, but have only been to a handful in the last couple of years. So my experiences are maybe a bit limited, so my review may reflect that. But just wanted to share my experience and hear your thoughts as well
Atmosphere: I visited this restaurant solo and was unfortunately placed in the back corner room, which did have not as much of the same ambiance that I saw walking through the rest of the restaurant. (If it means anything, I booked the reservation a couple weeks before i showed up, but this room felt almost like an overflow room). Another couple that was eventually sat next to me part way through my meal, also didn’t like the back corner room that we were put in away from everyone else. It felt isolating from an otherwise very social environment that the restaurant had, but I did not have the gall to ask to be moved like they did. There were trees outside the window, but they were covered by construction scaffolding that ruined the vibe.
Service: Very surface level service, but all of the workers were cordial. Not as personable as I have seen at other Michelin star restaurants, but that is likely due to how many people they serve in this restaurant. It is way bigger than I expected for a 2 star, which I loved. However, I felt like I was being used for training. The brought out the wrong wine for a dish, that they took away after I took a sip while the sommelier was explaining and realized the mistake. Then they also forgot to bring out caviar, as they opened a box that had nothing in it — then went back to get the actual caviar and do a second take of explaining one of the courses. Among a couple other things that I won’t nitpick at. But (on top of everything else) made me feel as if I was the perfect person to teach new staff on or something since I was solo. But may have been honest mistakes.
Food: I chose the Chef’s Menu (tasting course). The food tasted amazing. However, it was either a lot of food, or way too much wine per course. I was struggling to finish, as a young guy who usually eats a lot and did not have much of anything to eat before I arrived. But the food itself was delicious, and i enjoyed every bite, even if I was bloated and struggling to finish by the end of the meal. So maybe a la carte is the best option for me if I visit again. My favorite dish was the Seabream (described in the attached menu picture) – such a delicious course that I was scraping at the plate to get the last bit of the sauce!
