Mini lobster rolls and a twice baked potato top with caviar. Yum

  1. Can you explain to me the appeal of eating caviar on things that really should be enjoyed on their own, or with more traditional enhancements?

Lobster has its own sweet and rich taste. A bit of butter and lemon is all that’s needed, if it’s really fresh it is great on its own. Nothing needed.

A baked potato is arguably a vehicle for fat and flavor. I get that. My favorite is actually a loaded with chopped brisket and BBQ sauce.

But caviar? I just don’t get that brine/salt/umami flavor with a potato.

It’s kind of a small serving delicacy that is great on its own, or with a bit of smooth creme fraiche and blini to extend the flavor.

Pile it on like this seems to miss the point for me.

These are such pointless and unnecessary uses of caviar. Feels like its literally there just to be “fancy” rather than any legitimate culinary reason.

Why are people being so pretentious in the comments. Maybe they wanted to add caviar to see how it would taste. Maybe they just wanted to. When did there become a right or wrong way to enjoy your own personal food?
