I think you nailed the doneness but it could do with a better sear.

Excellent. Especially for a first time.
My mom has those plates.

Great work for a first time. Most people are gonna aim for a harder sear on the outside but yours isn’t awful, and the tiny grey band to even red interior is far better than most posts on this sub.

Have nothing to say that hasn’t been said. I wish I was eating this right now, damn.

Looks great for a first time!
My two cents, did you let the steak come to room temp/let it sit out for half an hour before cooking?

Looks like you did it “right”. I will say I’m new to cooking and eating steaks, and I prefer much less pink, so my opinion has definitely shifted to the right steak is the steak you enjoy.

Looks great. A bit more heat initially to get the Maillard reaction. Also very important to let it rest for at least 5 minutes. Just wrap it in some aluminum foil. At least that is what I usually do.

Well cooked. Simple tio: when you cut it, cut against the grain (you have cut just a bit off parallel to the grain here) and it will be more tender in your mouth.

This is fire for a first time..try having the temperature just a little higher than how you cooked it this time.. literally just a tad to get a better sear while keeping that same pink in the middle. NJ
