Where’s the shawarma?

I was born in Beirut and immigrated to the US with my family as a toddler over 40 years ago. For years I would never take the leftovers from the shawarma my mom would make to school for lunch because the one time I did back in the 80s the kids gave me so much crap because they thought it looked and smelled terrible. It warms my heart that several decades later it’s become an accepted (and even beloved by some) food here in the US and Canada.
