482 calories, 31g protein, 5g fibre. High in lots of vitamins. The burger buns are only 116 calories per burger which is great.

To make 4 'buns' (for two burgers) boil 100g sweet potato, grate 2 carrots (or 150g). Peel the potato and squeeze out the extra juice from the carrots (could save to drink if you want). Add an egg, mash it all together and split into 4. I didn't time how long I fried it for but just put it in the pan until it goes golden brown on medium to high heat.

Another great hack is the salad dressing. It's 50g Greek yoghurt, a bit of light soy sauce, and some onion and garlic powder. Super low calorie compared to store bought dressings but genuinely tastes delicious.

Over half the calories for this recipe come from the mince so if you want to make this even lower calorie then swap the beef mince for 50/50 beef and turkey mince. Haven't tried it yet but it's been highly recommended by others.

This reminds of of those cauliflower bread replacements (outer aisle plant power thins, Trader Joe’s cauliflower thins)
    Have you tried those before?

This sounds legit! love low cal hacks like this, can’t wait to try it out. sweet potato buns are a vibe for sure…

  3. I suppose this is an option, there are buns available that are similar or lower calorie. Low carb buns will run 50-100 calories, or some store brand or bun thins will run around 120.
Not something you have to do, but certainly an alternative if you want something faster or more similar to normal buns.
I usually try to choose options I could see myself continuing to make after a diet, rather than something more extreme temporarily. Good on you for how nutritious they are though!

  4. So, is the bun sweet? Sweet potato and carrot definitely sounds like it would be on the sweeter tasting side

  5. Looks great!

FWIW Lewis Bakeshop keto buns are 70 cal per bun, 16 fiber and 10 protein. Texture is a little chewy but if I toast them they are perfectly acceptable.
